Singapore has entered Phase 2 (Heightened Alert), and local universities have also tightened and taken preventive measures in student hostels.
At MDIS Residences/ Hostel, shared facilities such as gymnasium, dance studio, and study room had been closed during this period and the Safe Management personnel will perform regular patrols within the hostel to ensure compliance of all safe distancing measures by students. There are also closed-circuit television monitoring at each floor of the hostel and students on the different floor do not visit each other or gather together.
Rooms at MDIS Residences are also opened for rental by students from other schools and applications are received for block reservation of the entire floor since February 2020.
Huang Meiyi, Senior Director of the Communications department at MDIS, said: “We will work with some universities and local private schools and if their students are interested to live in our hostel, we will block the entire floor through the partnering schools. For the individual non-MDIS student who has approached us, it is unlikely we will accept their reservation".
