FAQs
At MDIS, our Preparatory courses prepare local and international students to handle major national or international examinations like the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS), Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O-level) and Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) and also the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).
GCE O & A Levels
- Conducted jointly by the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE), Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) and the Cambridge Assessment International Education.
- The Cambridge qualifications are administered by Cambridge Assessment International Education, a part of the University of Cambridge.
IGCSE courses
- Syllabus are localised and they are divided into knowledge skills and content-based subjects.
- Syllabuses are international in outlook and they have been created specifically for an international student body with content to suit a wide variety of schools and avoid cultural bias. The contexts or examples used in syllabuses and examination question papers are culturally sensitive in international context.
Local & International Entry Requirements
10 Months
- 3 Credits in GCE O-Level / Year 10 or equivalent
- Minimum Age: 17 years old (as at 1st January of the examination year for GCE A-Level examinations)
- Language Proficiency: At least a Pass (Grade C6) in GCE O-Level / Year 10 English / Certificate in English (CIE) / Online English Placement Test conducted by MDIS / Achieve a score of 75 and above in Duolingo English Test / equivalent
16 Months
- 3 Credits in GCE O-Level / Year 10 or equivalent
- Minimum Age: 17 years old (as at 1st January of the examination year for GCE A-Level examinations)
- Language Proficiency: At least a Pass (Grade C6) in GCE O-Level / Year 10 English / Certificate in English (CIE) / Online English Placement Test conducted by MDIS / Achieve a score of 75 and above in Duolingo English Test / equivalent
24 Months
- 3 Credits in GCE O-Level / Year 10 or equivalent
- Minimum Age: 16 years old (at least 17 years old as at 1st January of the year of GCE A-Level examinations)
- Language Proficiency: At least a Pass (Grade C6) in GCE O-Level / Year 10 English / Certificate in English (CIE) / Online English Placement Test conducted by MDIS / Achieve a score of 75 and above in Duolingo English Test / equivalent
Local Admission & International Entry Requirements - 10 Months
- Completed at least Secondary 3 education/Year 9 or equivalent
- Minimum Age: 15 years old (as at 1st Jan of the year of GCE O-Level examinations)
- Language Proficiency: Completed Secondary 3 English / Certificate in English / IELTS 5.0 / Online English Placement Test conducted by MDIS / Achieve a score of 75 and above in Duolingo English Test / equivalent
Local & International Entry Requirements - 16 Months
- Completed at least Secondary 3 education or equivalent
- Minimum Age: 15 years old (as at 1st Jan of the year of GCE O-Level examinations)
- Language Proficiency: Completed Secondary 3 English / Certificate in English / IELTS 5.0 / Online English Placement Test conducted by MDIS / Achieve a score of 75 and above in Duolingo English Test / equivalent
International Entry Requirements - 24 Months
- Completed at least Secondary Two education or equivalent
- Minimum Age: 14 years old (at least 15 years old as at 1st Jan of the year of GCE O-Level examinations)
- Language Proficiency: Completed Secondary Two English / Year 8 / Certificate in English / Achieve a score of 75 and above in Duolingo English Test / equivalent
Local & International Entry Requirements
- 3 Credits in GCE O-Level /Year 10 or equivalent
- Minimum age: 17 years old (as at 1st January of the examination year)

Intensive (5 Months)

Year 7 (12 Months)
- Completed at least Primary Six Education / Year 6 or equivalent
- Minimum age: 12 years old (as at 1st January of the examination year)
- Language Proficiency: Completed Primary Six English / Year 6 English / Pass MDIS Certificate in English (CIE) Level 1 / Achieve a score of 55 and above in Duolingo English Test / Equivalent
Year 8 (12 Months)
- Completed at least Secondary One Education / Year 7 or equivalent
- Minimum age: 13 years old (as at 1st January of the examination year)

Secondary 1 (3 & 6 Months)
- Completed at least Year 6 or equivalent
- Minimum age: 12 years old (as at 1st January of the examination year)
- Language Proficiency: Year 6 English / Certificate in English (CIE) / Online English Placement Test conducted by MDIS / Achieve a score of 75 and above in Duolingo English Test / equivalent
Secondary 2 (3 & 6 Months)
- Completed at least Year 7 or equivalent
- Minimum age: 13 years old (as at 1st January of the examination year)
