Programme Objectives 

The overall aims of the programme are to:

  • Produce graduates with an enthusiasm for mechanical engineering, an appreciation of its application in different contexts and to involve them in an intellectually stimulating and satisfying experience of learning and studying
  • Produce graduates with the ability to apply their knowledge and understanding in order to be competitive and creative
  • Produce graduates with the ability to apply a variety of methods and skills in the investigation and solution of real mechanical engineering problems
  • Produce graduates with the qualities and skills for employability, enabling them to either pursue programmes of further study or to move directly into their chosen employment in industry and manage their own continuous professional development

Entry Requirements

All applicants must be of age 18 and above, and must obtain one of the following requirements:

  • Relevant polytechnic diplomas in mechanical engineering related fields with a good pass (55% and above), equivalent to Year 1 and Year 2 OR
  • Relevant overseas polytechnic diplomas in mechanical engineering related fields with a good pass (55% and above), equivalent to Year 1 and Year 2, with 10 years of formal education OR
  • Relevant PEI qualifications in mechanical engineering related fields with a good pass (55% and above), equivalent to Year 1 and Year 2, with 12 years of formal education OR
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in fields of mechanical engineering OR
  • Mature candidates who possess other qualifications should be 30 years old and above with at least 8 years of relevant working experience

English Language Requirements

The applicant is required to achieve one of the following:

  • C6 in English at GCE 'O' level OR
  • IELTS 6.0 (with no elements lower than 5.5) OR

Our 3-year Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Mechanical Engineering programme in Singapore is meant for students who do not have any prior engineering background (students with A' Level certification or Year 12 graduates). The ME Top-up Degree is meant for students who already have knowledge (those with a relevant diploma in mechanical engineering) or sufficient work experience in the field.

Students who have prior knowledge in mechanical engineering (i.e. a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering) or have worked in the mechanical engineering sector may apply.

You will be eligible for our Master's courses in mechanical engineering once you complete the top-up degree successfully. 

Yes, the degree is globally recognised. 

You will need to have a diploma in a relevant engineering field from Singapore or overses, or have experience working in the mechanical engineering sector.

Our graduates can pursue career in various industries, including the manufacturing, transportation or logistics sectors.
