The much anticipated annual event, Men’s Folio Designer of the Year Competition 2018 themed, "Share Your Sin" was held at Avry, Millennia Walk along with the Men’s Folio 21st Anniversary Party on 23 October. The design concept inspired by the Seven Sins required fashion designers to select one of the cardinal vices - Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Pride and interpret them into well-crafted menswear collections, commercially viable and wearable.

Zoey had just completed the module on men's wear design a few months back. Within a short period of time, and under the mentorship of her lecturers, she took on the challenge and created three unique sets of men's wear. Competing nationwide with fashion design students and graduates, she went through rounds of rigourous selection before emerging the third place winner.  

The inspiration for her collection titled Operation Wrath, came from the emotions of rage and fury, of assassins blinded by hatred and revenge. To express the wrath, she combined the elements of angsty Japanese movies and accentuated the anger with colours such as black and red, which represents power and mystery. She kept the silhouettes interesting with layering and infused a touch of streetwear that was sleek and stylish. 

Zoey progressed from the MDIS Diploma in Fashion Design and Marketing to a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Fashion Design, awarded by Nottingham Trent University, UK.  We congratulate Zoey and wish her many more successes!
