Dr Eric Kuan Choon Hock

Dr Eric Kuan is the President of MDIS. He joined MDIS in 1979 and has served in various positions in the MDIS Governing Council. He was elected as President in 1992, and also serves as the Chairman of the MDIS Education and Training Sub-Committee.
As an advocate of lifelong learning, Dr Kuan has acquired several postgraduate qualifications, over the years. He holds a Master of Arts in Business Analysis from the University of Lancaster (UK), a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of York (UK), a Master of Arts in Education (Merit) from the University of Nottingham (UK), a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Edinburgh (UK) and a Master of Science in Global Public Health (Merit) from the Queen Mary University of London (UK). Dr Kuan was awarded the prestigious ‘Teaching Fellow’ by Bangor University in 2018 and is a Distinguished Fellow of MDIS.
Dr Kuan has passed the professional examinations of the American Production & Inventory Control Society (APICS) and attained the award of the prestigious Certified Production & Inventory Management (CPIM). His areas of expertise include Strategic Management, Operations & Production Management, Project Management, Logistic Management, and Marketing.
His professional career experience includes holding senior management positions in manufacturing, materials & logistics management, as well as sales & marketing functions in British, American and Singapore-based multinational companies.
As an education and training consultant, he is actively involved in marketing education programmes internationally. He has conducted numerous seminars, workshops and previews as well as business activities in China, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
For his outstanding contributions to the field of management education in Singapore and the region, and in particular for his significant contributions to MDIS, he was conferred the Honorary Degree of ‘Doctor of Commercial Science’ by the Oklahoma City University in 1999, the Honorary ‘Doctor of the University’ by University of Bradford in 2005 and the Honorary ‘Doctor of Business Administration’ by the University of Sunderland in 2015.
Mr Roger Tham Kong Khuan

Mr Roger Tham Kong Khuan, has served the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) voluntarily for more than 20 years since 1998. He is currently the Vice-President, and first joined MDIS as a Council Member of the MDIS Governing Council and has held various portfolios in the Council, including Honorary Treasurer and Assistant Honorary Treasurer.
He also serves as the Chairman of the Student Services Subcommittee as well as the Corporate Relations Subcommittee. In his respective portfolios with MDIS, he has provided valuable counsel, guidance and mentorship to the team.
He was conferred the MDIS Honorary Fellow award in 2013, for his invaluable contributions and support towards the interest and welfare of MDIS, and the advancement of the institute as a provider of quality education.
He graduated with a Master of Business Administration from the University of East London.
His career in the airline industry spans over a period of 47 years in various positions and working with subsidiary companies of the industry. He commenced his career with Singapore Airlines in 1973, and was transferred to Singapore Airlines Engineering Company Pte Ltd (SIAEC) in 1992 and seconded to Singapore Jamco Pte Ltd in 1998 and subsequently deseconded to SIAEC in 2000. He has retired from the airline industry in August 2020 and currently allocates his time towards the progress of MDIS.
He has also been actively involved in Community services during the period 1996 to 2000 as a Member, Telok Kurau Feedback Group; Telok Kurau Zone A - Sub Committee, Secretary to the Chairman and a Citizen’s Consultative Committee member of the Joo Chiat Community Service.
Mr Roger Tham is a valued member of the MDIS Governing Council and we look forward to his continued support and guidance.
Mr Shareef Bin Abdul Jaffar

Mr Shareef Bin Abdul Jaffar is the Secretary-General of MDIS and he is currently an Education and Training Consultant with Training Concepts (US) Pte Ltd . He is also the Chairman of TCC Credit Cooperative Ltd and the Director of the Secureguard Security Service Co-operative Ltd.
He joined MDIS as a Council Member in 2006. Since then, he has served in various positions within the Governing Council and contributed immensely to the success of MDIS. Besides lending his support to MDIS and its regional expansion plans in MDIS Tashkent, Uzbekistan, he is also one of the appointed Directors for MDIS subsidiary, Service Quality Centre (SQ Centre) and SQ Centre had performed well since MDIS acquisition in 2014.
He is also a Consultant with more than 27 years of experience in his field. He currently manages his own consulting firm, Training Concepts Pte Ltd, which undertake training and development assignments and project in Singapore and the Asia Pacific region. His company has been engaged by many large MNC and governmental agencies, such as BEACONS, NOKIA Concept Stores, Inwent, an organisation funded by the German Government, Staff Development and Inspectorate Division of the Singapore Police Force, etc., to provide consulting services, design training interventions for the organisation, train the trainers to deliver the programmes and conduct training needs analysis.
He received his Master of Science in Strategic Planning from Edinburgh Business School with specialisms in Strategic Planning, Mergers & Acquisitions, Alliances and Partnerships, Strategic Risk Management, Strategic Negotiation, Competitive Strategy, Corporate Governance, Project Management and Strategy Implementation. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and is a Certified Assessor in Quality Management Systems.
In the year 2008, he was awarded the Pingkat Bakti Setia (Polis) for 25 years of meritorious service by the President of Singapore for his dedicated service as a Superintendent (NS) in the Singapore Police Force, Ministry of Home Affairs.
