2000 to 2010
Venture into Emerging Areas - many firsts for MDIS
Gearing up for the travel, tourism and hospitality industry, the MDIS School of Tourism and Hospitality and a specialised hospitality training centre was officially launched in 2007.
In 2001, the six-storey MDIS Headquarters building at 190 Changi Road was purchased and the corporate HQ shifted to Changi from PSB Building at Bukit Merah. In 2004, MDIS moved to the MDIS Campus at 501 Stirling Road.
The School of Psychology was set up in 2008.
MDIS became the first in Singapore to offer the Entrepreneurship with Management programme from the University of Wales, UK.
Spreading its wings overseas, MDIS Tashkent, the first overseas campus in Tashkent, Uzbekistan was officially opened in 2008. The four hectare campus with state-of-the-art facilities marked the first venture of a Singapore education provider into Central Asia.
First private education provider to offer biomedical sciences. S$2 million was invested to set up the Centre for Biomedical Sciences at Dhoby Ghaut, Orchard Road.
MDIS offered courses in Information Technology ranging from one day programmes to diplomas and degrees.
MDIS established its first regional representative office in Thailand.
Since, MDIS celebrated its 50th Anniversary to mark its Golden Jubilee.
MDIS and MDIS College was awarded the four-year EduTrust Certification by the Council for Private Education in May 2010 attesting to the institute’s exemplary education and quality standards.
